Ready to tackle the business side of your creative endeavor without the overwhelm? Join Business Blueprint for Creatives, a six-part workshop series designed and taught by Katie Thornsvard and hosted at Cecy’s Gallery & Studios in Durham. Designed for artists, makers, and other creatives, these sessions will help you feel confident about managing the business side of your work — from bookkeeping and sales tax to other key fundamentals.
Katie has a master’s degree in accounting and is a CPA. She has served in senior finance leadership roles at UNC, Duke, and a nonprofit foundation. She is also a working artist. You might recognize her whimsical animal portraits and greeting cards from Cecy’s Art Market Durham and other local markets, where she regularly sells through her business, Wild Thorn Collective. With both financial expertise and firsthand creative experience, Katie teaches in a way that’s grounded, approachable, and tailored for creatives.
